Would definitely recommend their services.Posted on Google Elliot HouserTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Top notch care. I've been bringing all my pets here for over 5 years now. They really do care about the animals they see. They also are very transparent on options and your pets health.Posted on Google Jessica GatesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I came in with concerns for my cat, and they gave me good recommendations. Unfortunately, I had to use in-home euthanasia with another company. Somehow, they found out, and sent me flowers. That struck me as incredibly kind and professional. I went to several vets during this cat's ailments, and they were the best by far. Thank you guys.Posted on Google Cindy LewisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We started taking our pets to the Highland Park location in 2022 and loved it. When they closed, we transferred to the Cathedral Hill location. At our dog's annual exam in 2024, I found out they tried to muzzle him without asking me or telling me. He never needed to be muzzled at the previous location or in general. The tech came to the front lobby to tell me after they had tried and reported that he was thrashing and fearful. There was even a vet tech standing at the front desk who remembered seeing our dog at the Highland location and she commented that he's always been fine at the vet. Dr. Eric Ruhland discussed sedation with me and said that he has been bitten too many times and doesn't want to put himself or his staff in danger. We were sent home with Trazadone & Gabapentin and told to come back next day. They noted in the chart "used firm restraint with patient over holder's knee" and discussed with my husband that "more is more" seemed to work well on our dog. None of that sat well with me. While I understand the vet's concern for his and his staff's safety (I don’t want you to get bitten either), I wish they would have handled it better. I understand a fearful dog may bite - especially since my dog is a German Shepherd - but he has no history of biting. Additionally, if a muzzle is policy or required because my dog is nervous/anxious, he's a GSD, etc., then communicate that to me and give me the option to put on a muzzle before bringing him in. He's never been muzzled before, so of course he's going to thrash and become fearful when a stranger is forcing him. The tech who initially took my dog back for the appointment left me in the front lobby which I thought was weird. When she came back to tell me my dog was not cooperating, I asked if I could go back to the exam room with him to see if he would calm down. They allowed it, but it didn't help since he was already so worked up. They sent in a different tech per my request, and I could see how frustrated & annoyed she was that she had to deal with us which felt crappy. Since this visit, our dog is terrified when we go to the vet. I should have advocated more for my dog and stopped going there immediately, but I really did like this clinic and thought this is the new normal. We took our dog in for an office visit due to limping in Jan 2026. The vet who was examining him seemed frustrated that he was scared. My husband got down on the floor, placed his head against him while rubbing his ears, and our dog allowed the vet to do the examination. She seemed surprised that this worked. I get that it sucks when you can’t do your job and I know we aren’t the only clients you see in a day. It started feeling like we were a burden to them though. After that visit, I decided to find a different clinic that focused more on compassion and patience. This is not to say that St. Paul Pet doesn't show compassion and patience - my dog just needs more. We transferred all our pets over to Grand Ave Vet. We had our first appointment there last month and the vet was able to examine him, no problem. The techs were able to draw blood from his leg and administer 3 shots. No drugs, no sedation, no muzzle needed. This is not a dig at St. Paul Pet - I only want to share my experience. Just because St. Paul Pet is no longer the right fit for us, does not mean they‘re not great for others. They always helped us when we needed, and I appreciate them for that. However, I gave them 2 stars just because of how disappointed I was with the last few appointments.Posted on Google melissa bakerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have taken my older dog here for years but it wasn’t until getting a puppy that I really got to know the staff. Everyone there knows and loves my puppy, he even pouts when he has to wait and can’t go into the back. I’ve taken him for routine care, surgeries, follow-ups, called in a panic, and every time I feel heard and that they care about my animals.Posted on Google Laura FarvourTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've brought my doggos to this vet since they arrived in my life. The staff at SPPH are second to none, and I'm deeply grateful to them for their kind and thorough pet care.Posted on Google troy cichTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I came here for about six years. I am usually able to get an appointment within a month. I was told I would need to see a veterinarian; to get a prescription; to be able to purchase the monthly flea/ heart worm /tick prevention medication I am told I require for my tiny terrier who has issues with medication being too strong for his small size. I asked how much it would be for the appointment, and was told it would be approximately $75.00 to see the veterinarian. So I was quoted $75 for vet visit, but add another $75 for a test, double my quoted price, plus the prescription. Which was $125.00. I suggest definitely getting a quote for whatever your visit or concern is, look into the details, and ask about the costs, or if they ask for, or require any tests, ask if there are extra costs for the tests? are the tests absolutely required?,what are they for? I knew what I needed was a prescription to purchase flea/tick medications, and an examination. One prescription still had refills, but they demanded I needed to see the vet before they would refill it, even though it still had refills available, I had been seen by a veterinarian at this location previously. Nothing seems to be included with seeing the veterinarian, besides prescription refills. When I make an appointment Especially if their policy is to see a vet$, to do a test$, to get the required prescription$, to get to have the opportunity to buy the pill$, please take the time to pause, check, or ask and give a correct price$, my visit was tripple than what I was quoted$ when I made the appointment. Also, I wanted to add that my previous prescription was changed without any conversation with the vet. The prescriptions were emailed to me. I came here two years ago. It seemed my dog had a pimple behind his ear, I was told it was an ingrown hair and would take care of itself. My next appointment a year later the veterinarian I see was just petting my animal and was telling me how cute he is. Well a week after this appointment my guy got another pimple on his nose. I went to another vet as this place (Dr.Bryce) missed the first pimple behind his ear was an abscess tooth, the infection spread to another tooth next to the first creating another abscess on his nose. So for two years and 3 appointments St Paul pet hospital missed major dental issues, In the first couple minutes Petco diagnosed the infected teeth, I was told dental clean and extractions. So he was suffering with an abscess for over a year, almost 2 years, the infection then spread to another tooth under this st Paul pets care. Thank God I got another opinion at another clinic. Within the exam she asked if my pet had cushions disease. I had never even heard of this. So anyways he ended up requiring 9 teeth removed, and that he had a incurable disease. St Paul pet hospital missed all of this over 6 years. They were more interested in other things then I guess helping my dog. I will never return to this place. 6 years missing a major diagnosis, and abscessed tooth infection traveling through my dog's mouth causing him pain. He suffered under this hospitals care. I am completely disappointed with this hospitals care. Go to any other vet. I am astounded they did not mention his abscessed teeth for years, and missed a major disease he has had for probably the same. The only good thing I can say is I was refunded for the last vet exam as they missed all of the diagnosis, over years of care, including abscessed teeth, a cracked tooth, four loose front teeth, and cushions disease he required to be healthy. Once Petco diagnosed, and treated his needs he has turned back into the loving dog I had missed for two years. He is content and no longer growls in pain as I pick him up. He is back to himself. Please go anywhere else then here. Stay away from Dr Bryce, he is useless. Terribly disappointed in this clinic always asking for more money for the wrong tests, no diagnosis. No care.Posted on Google Matt HozzaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. St. Paul Pet Hospital is incredible. They have done such a wonderful job helping me keep my dog, Rambler, healthy and happy over all these years. He’ll be turning 15 later this year, and I truly credit his longevity to the expertise and care we’ve received from the team at St. Paul Pet Hospital. I stopped in this morning to pick up a prescription, and it was ready for me right as I walked in the door. The staff is extremely friendly and professional all the way around. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great local pet hospital. St. Paul Pet Hospital is the place to go!
